Dhanush clarifies ‘Seedan’ confusion

Actor Dhanush is apparently basking in the glory of the success of his latest venture ‘Aadukalam’ directed by vetrimaran. The film, set in the backdrop of Madurai and with rooster fighting as its central theme, had Dhanush speaking ever-so-fluently in typical Madurai dialect. He has been getting appreciation from the print and television media as well as from his fans and cine-goers.
For the past fortnight, though, print media is full of advertisements of an upcoming film ‘Seedan’ which seemingly depicts Dhanush playing the lead role opposite Ananya (of ‘nadodigal’ fame). The film, directed by subramanian siva (who directed Dhanush in ‘Thiruda Thirudi’ years back), took Dhanush’s fans by surprise as they hardly heard about its launch in the past.
Dhanush has now come out with a statement clarifying that he was only playing a ‘guest role’ or a ‘special role’ in the film and that he wasn’t playing a full-fledged hero’s role like he usually does. The statement dispels doubts his fans and others had about the film, which has sprung up only recently.
“My role in Seedan is limited to around 25 minutes or so; I play Ananya’s (the heroine) servant in the film. It’s the role of a simpleton which I liked a lot due to which I committed myself to do the film. The climax of the film would be amazing, indeed. Movie-goers who patronize good films would surely like the film,” Dhanush has said in the statement.
Remake of the Malayalam hit ‘Nandanam’, Siva’s ‘Seedan’ has Krishna and Ananya as the lead pair.
