Mappillai is the forthcoming Tamil movie starring Dhanush and Hansika Motwani in the leading roles. Manisha Koirala will play the role of Dhanush's Mother in law in Mappillai.
The film has Vivek and Manobala in the supporting roles. Produced by Kalanidhi Maran, the film is directed by Suraaj and is distributed by Sun Pictures.
Mappillai is the remake of 1989 Rajnikant starrer movie with the same title. Interstingly, Dhanush, Rajnikant's elder son-in-law is doing the role of Mappillai. Late actress Srividya did the role of Mother in law in the older version, while Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala plays that role in the new version.
The new Mappillai will not have the same story line as the old one, but will take the theme from the old version and develop a new storyline that will interest the younger generation. Mappillai will be a comedy entertainer.
It is heard that Vivek plays the role of a plus two student who studies in the same class for many years, in this movie. It is expected that the Dhanush - Vivek combination will make the film hilarious.
The story of Mappillai revolves around a MIL who wants to be superior to her son in law always. Thus the conflict between the two.
Mappillai is in the final stages of its shoot and is expected to be completed soon.
